Head Unit Won't Store Radio Presets!

Hey guys,

I have a problem with fitting a new Sony HU into my Corolla (2000 GS VVTi)

I took my car to my local car audio place to fit the subwoofers, and while they were at it i thought "Yeah, let them do the HU as well, saves me the bother!"

They made it work, but the memory resets everytime you switch off the car, losing everything, Radio presets, Colours, CD Locations, USB information..

I don't really want to keep setting it up everytime i switch off the car, which when i'm delivering pizzas and am constantly turning on/off my car, would become a real pain in the *****!

I've searched around and heard people talking about switching the Red wire to fit the Yellow wire, and the Yellow wire to fit to the Red wire, but my unique problem is my car audio place didn't use your typical ISO to Sony converter, they did Toyota - ISO - Sony, with all their own wiring (Aka they used bullet connectors between ISO blocks)

So to squash this down a bit.. lol

1. Should I bother mixing and matching wires, Or buy a Toyota - Sony converter from Halfords or similar?

2. Can you get these adapters?

3. Has anyone had experience with these adapters?

Cheers guys!

Why did they not use a simple Toyota - Sony loom then, autoleads should sell something like that, and should be able to find it in your local Halfords.

To "CHOP" and fit bullet connectors inbetween the loom, just show how much competent your "local car audio place" has and just not worth the money or expertise they advise you with.

Yes they should of checked it before they gave it back to you, that should be the basics of a car install, try and try again, even switch off the ignition and back on again just to make sure, which i'm guessing they just left it live while they did the install!!

From what memory serves me right, RED was constant live (as in, a direct feed from the battery), and YELLOW is switchable live (as in, switches on/off at the ignition), could be other way round but you can't really go wrong.

Depending on how they did they wiring, it is very easy to fix, you just need a multimeter to check which is the live and switchable, and if they have "chopped" the loom there then just swap them over and see if that helps.

Let us know if that helps.
