Rear Wheel

Hi,

I've been noticing a rear wheel vibration (sounds like a helicopter is right above me, which slows down and I do) when getting over a certain speed (40-50) lately so I jacked my back wheel up and spun it around. What's happening is it's maybe turning 2-3 times and then there's a loud metal clunk (the clunk sounds very close to the wheel) and it stops dead. if you move the wheel backwards even the slightest amount then forwards it proceed past the orginal stoppping point. It doesn't do this on the other side.

Can anyone shed some light on to this worrying series of events?

Hi

I've had this myself a few times on different cars and it is usually a small stone trapped between the brake disk and the inner cover. I am assuming you have rear disc brakes. It usually frees itself if you reverse for some distance, if not then remove wheel and take it from there.

Hi Thanks for that although it does sound like a little more than just a small stone, i'll check it out though, incidently, i also get a knocking sound from the same area when reversing, and expecially when i swich from reverse to first and start to move forward, sounds like something is getting 'freed'
