Has anyone fitted a folding screen headunit to the aygo, ie the kind that pops out and flips up...alpine, kenwood and pioneer do some good ones....wondered about fitting this/clearence with the dashboard etc?

if you have done so, pics would be great....please

I haven't got one myself, by I HAVe seen some pics around and they seem to pose no problems...

DID find a movie of an Avic X1BT by Pioneer on YouTube:

They look good but there is one thing to look out for ....

they usually block the airflow from the front vents in most cars (don't know if the Aygo is affected like this) and if it does block the airflow, there may be a lot of buffeting noise (I got this when using a solid vent mounted holder).

Thanks for the video, it confirms the fact that the top cubby (where I was planning on putting my tomtom930) is blocked

oh well, still between an alpine iDA-X100 and a JVC KD-AVX44

any thoughts? I know its like comparing apples with potatoes but having had an avx-2 before, Ithink I might 'move up' to alpine quality this time.

The center vent is on top of the dash, so that's no problem.

If you get a radio with touch screen, why not get one with satnav built in?

That way there's no problem with placement of the TomTom or other PND

Ok decision made (and ordered)...went with the alpine ida-x100 and the bluetooth unit, that way I can utalise an old 40gig ipod I've got kicking about gathering dust as a 'music keg' type thingy and can also bluetooth my iPhone to it. I can also stream music from my already owned tomtom via bluetooth and have the nav audio cut in when required.

allround solved problems for a little under £300

I do have DVB TV in the discovery but only watch it if I'm waiting outside a shop or similar for Ecogirl ...don't think I'll miss incar video much!

thanks again to all for suggestions.......

only 10 days to go til the aygo arrives!

I don't think the SatNav will utilise the bluetooth to give you audio directions through the vehicle but I could be wrong.

It does, you get a choice of 4 outputs on the 930T for media and 4 outputs for nav, it stops the media (I have an 8gig sd card of songs in it)speaks the nav instructions then restarts the media file seamlessly

the output choices are

1. internal speaker

2. bluetooth hifi device (ie the head unit in my setup)

3. audio out cable. (useful if you don't upgrade the head unit)

4. Internal configurable fm transmitter

the tomtom 930 is a brilliant bit of kit, sorry but don't know if the lower models have this flexibility

I need a new SatNav so I might look into this. Does the headunit accept bluetooth audio?

yes but you need the bluetooth module for it, like most high-end alpine units, bluetooth compatible means there is a socket on the back for their dedicated phone/audiostreaming bluetooth unit

That's why I went for the Blaupunkt unit, it's not a folding screen but it has all the bluetooth and USB built into it.

With the right connector I think it can actually control an IPOD as well.

It will also merge the input from an AUX circuit without muting the sound if you want so can mix a satnav input into your music.
