Knocking Noise

Hi,

Had to get my car (Gen 6 ST202) recovered back to my house last night as, after driving for about an hour, a knocking clunking noise came on fairly quickly from the passenger side front wheel! It happened whenever the car was moving, forwards or backwards, being 'driven' or just coasting, and was comensurate with speed, ie knocks went faster as the car did! Recovery driver seemed to think it was a driveshaft problem? But...when I got the car back home and drove it onto the drive, it seemed like it had disappeared!

Any ideas what it could be? (I assume it stopped because everything had cooled down?)

Thanks in advance

Clive

a stone in tyre treads or trapped in caliper perhaps .

Hope it's the stone, but I doubt it!!

It's off to the garage tomorrow (because of course it happened on a bank holiday!), so will keep you posted!

Well, it's BOTH driveshafts!! By all accounts all the boots are knackered, full of water, and no grease! Robbing f**ker that sold me it!

Toyota quoted well over £1000 just for the parts, £450 from the garages suppliers, and I've just found them at 'Heathrow Japanese Car Spares' (through 247spares.co.uk) for £180 delivered. Garage is going to charge £133 to fit, so a bit of a result!

Just found out today that the CV joint on the offside driveshaft is knackered! So, it's off the road.....again!

Bloke at TCB was more than apologetic, and is sending a new CV joint gratis!
