Ta & Sat Nav

Hi People,

New Prius owner here, noticed a post regarding the TA information system briefly breaking into the radio without announcing, I have that problem/issue, very annoying as I keep thinking a telephone call is coming in and are triggered to look at the screen !

I was planning to switch off the TA but was wondering if that is the same system that provideds the traffic information for the Sat Nav ? Anyone able to confirm or deny ?

No it is not. The satnav uses a seperate receiver and gets its information from the RDS subcarrier (8A groups if you are interested).

I agree about the TA, the Beeb is not very well focused, on my way from South Worcestershire to west Birmingham I pick up Hereford and Worcester (good), something in Glocester (behind me), Shropshire (where's that, anyone cares?), Coventry and Warwick (who cares?) and Brum (kind of useful).
