Europe Road Trip.

We got back from a little trip in my Aygo last night.

We did 3110 miles in 5 days through France,Belgum,Holand,Germany, Czech Republic, Austria down through Italy and on through San remo and monaco. Yesterday I drove Nice to Calais 760 miles. The little Aygo proved well up to the task and even made 52.7 mpg for the trip. The only real complaint was the size of the fuel tank. :D

The only real problem we had was not the cars fault. We stopped over night near Venice and went out in the car looking for some food and got trapped in a hail storm the like of witch I have never seen. It came on like driving into a wall all we could do was pull over and wait. It was quite scary you could feel the impacts on the roof from inside I was worried the windows would break it was that intense. When it had finished the car was covered by little dents. There are over 100 on the roof alone!

It does not photo very well but I hope you can see what I mean on the bonnet.

I have made an insurance claim and will let you know what happens.

whoah! thats some bad damage for hail! like you say, looking at the damage im very suprised a window didnt go.

Very unlucky with that, hope it isnt too costly to sort if the insurance doesnt pay out, should do tho

Bet you are glad car insurance doesn't (usually) have an "act of god" exclusion

Hope you get sorted....looks like an expensive fix

Serious damage to the roof could write the car off.

Holand

It's Holland. ;)

Did you have a nice stay in my country?

How did you experience the driving in Holland?

Posted

I was in Amsterdam a couple of days ago and the whole transportation system looks amazing in comparison to what ours is like in the UK. Bikes are literally separated from car lanes which is brilliant and the cars drive with the trams seamlessly. Very good system.

Well the insurance seem to be paying up so thats good :D

The man from the body shop says it needs

Bonet

Roof

1 door

Both front wings

And a lot of filler folowed by a complete re spray :o

He did look at getting a new Shell but aparently you cant get them......................

Sorry REFZ for misspelling Holland I did not see much of your country this time but from previous experence the dutch seem a very courtious and welcoming people.

It's Holland.

Well, actually it's The Netherlands...

Holland is the bit in the west, consisting of the two provences "Noord-Holland" and "Zuid-Holland".

And I happen to know REFZ lives in Noord-Holland :D

I live in the south in "Noord-Brabant" and we don't like being called "Hollanders" over here ;)

On-Topic: isn't the roof part of the Shell? How would they replace that?

Bonnet, door and wings just bolt on, so those will be easy...
