Hiya,

my 2000 toyota avensis 1.8 vvti has coverd 193,000 miles. everything is great except the gearbox is now noisey in all gears.

i was going to drain the oil, as i summize its never been changed and then add some molyslip gearbox additive along with fresh oil.

am i wasting my time.? or do you think that it could quieten the box a bit.

if i have to change the gearbox what kind of a job is it, im reasonable at engine changes and stuff so im not too worried , just wondering how bad it is to change.

Does anyone have a box i could buy off them ...?

and just to finish my post , the engine management lights just come on. everything is running fine, no problems at all. how can i reset the light as its constantly on.

thanks

Andy

I doubt an oil change will help on this gearbox - its usually the bearings wear ecxessively which then leads to wear in the gearbox case itself.

Mart.
