Replacing Rear Wiper

Hi All,

I need to replace the rear wiper on a 2004 hatchback. I'm just wondering how to do it as it is not mentioned in the manual.

I guessing that to prise the old wiper off i first need to take the plastic cover of the spindle arm and then it can be raised off the windscreen? I've had a go at this but it looks at though the plastic cover has a lip on the innner curved section and requires some special techniquie to remove it. Any ideas? I don't want to crack the plastic if possible.

The plastic blades are just a simple "click" fit into the arm, a sort of u shaped plastic shape on the arm, and a simple bar on the blade that just pushes home and clicks in place, hope it makes sense, not sure how else to describe it. Take a firm grasp of the arm and at the centre of the blade, pull firmly, the blade will just pop out of the arm

Had a look again biut to no avail.

The wiper does seem held to be held in as you say with the blade bar within the 'u' shape part of the arm. I guessing that I need to pull the blade from the righthand side to release.

There seems to be a plastic block on the left handside of the u shape arm that is preventing the blade from moving to the right when I pull it.

It seems to me that the blade needs to angled away from the block before it can then be pulled out.

The blade cannot be angled with enough degree because the arm only comes so far off the windscreen.

Sounds like you have the earlier arm with a steel blade (not plastic) if that is the case you need to depress the little bar on the plastic lug in order for it to slide out of the U shaped arm, easy enough but like you say, the arm cant be lifted up very far
