Hi

I'm thinking of buying a Celica, hopefully 54 Plate onwards (the face lift version) pref. with sports/dynamic kit and premium pack.

In terms of milage, around 40,000 at the most but I have a few questions..

What should I be looking out for?

What parts needs replacing or checking at 40k?

Should i go for 140bhp or the 190bhp? ...im gonna be doing a commute of around 60miles per day.

thanks

corolla sr still in the family jus not mine anymore!

The 140 might make a better commuter - its gearbox is different to the 190, so revs lower in 6th at 70 - thus making a petrol saving. I could get 380 miles to a £50 tank in mine, but the T-Sport rolla I am struggling to get 300 now. Obviously the 190 engine is going to be more fun, but more costly to run with insurance, tax and petrol.

As long as its got FTSH and a bit of documentation, it should be fine. Along with the usuals when looking for a 2nd hand car, look out for corroded hubs, corroded wheels, weak boot struts (although this won't manefest unless its a colder day, as hotter days keep the pressure inside high enough to keep the lid open). Other than that on a 40k miles car, you shouldn't see any other probs! Oh, if you do get the dynamic kit, see if there are any traces of rust bubbling under the side skirts.

There were only two option Packs on the face lift 140, the Premium and Style, the Sport and Dynamic were pre face lift. If you want the 190 Engine you are restricted choice wise to the T Sport. Most of these will not have a Sunroof, so that may play a part in your decision. DefiantFrog has given good advice on what to look for, all I would add is to make sure there are two Remote Keys with the Car, replacements from Mr T are very expensive.

If Black or Silver is acceptable colour wise, check out the "Red" and "Blue" limited editions with their unique Leather, they both have the 140 Engine and some have the Climate Control and Sunroof.

Oh, one more note: a Silver 140 will have a lower trade in price than any other colour - there's too many of them, and the colour seems to be falling out of favour with the mass market. Black one's look awesome when clean and polished... Mine was black... :)

Hey thanks for the info.

In terms of mods I guess I jus wana add the "Massive GT spoiler" set of "HIDS" and maybe a rear lip skirt with a possible 2 exhausts with a new intake system any comments on this?

Ive noticed a dark blue on available locally 05/14k miles around £8k. is this reasonable?

although im like the black with red leather
