Is It Possible To Disable Front Passenger Airbag In 2004 T3x?

Hi,

I would like to know if it possible to disable (turn off) the front passenger airbag in 2004 T3X? I need to know this as I would like to place a rear facing infant car seat on the front passenger seat. However, this is not safely possible unless the airbag can be turned off.

My wife assures me that her friends cars can have their passenger air bags turned off. However, I have looked through the manual and I cannot see any mention that this is possible.

I had the same question, and the answer from the dealer was that you can't.

I had to stick to the car seat in the back.

Officially you cannot turn this circuit off like some German made cars which have key in glove box that allows owner to do it for themselves. Question has been asked before & Toyota can turn circuit of via official toyota software. Your problem will be convincing a Servive manager to approve this action, you will find it hard to find a dealer who will do this incase of any future accidents that might occur and any resultant come back in case of injuries to occupants of car.
