Looks good to me from the photo. Need to test drive it to see if it is OK and everything is easy to hand.

Couple of things: 1/lowering the computer screen, the idea of having screen as high as poss' suits me, less time looking down and taking my eyes off the road! 2/the gear knob thingy is very handy on the original model as it is quite close to the steering wheel and is easily flicked to position. I guess like all new things you will eventually get used to it so..."LIKE" P.S Honda are bringing out a new hybrid model starting from around £14k, will be interesting to see what will happen to the price of the new Prius?

Thanks for the update :)

Hi all,

Would appreciate your comments on this new Prius interior. Just a quick poll to say if you "like" or "dislike".

yeah I too prefer the gear lever where it is now, and I like the shape of the current centre armrest better too. Surely the higher screen at a more vertical angle would cut down on glare? Prefer the old I think, My comes in 2 months, old type yay!!

I prefer the old one. From looks alone, the steering wheel looks horrible, and the silver plastic goes right to the edge of the steering wheel rim, if that is hard plastic I'm not sure I would like that compared to the rest of steering wheel.

Why would Toyota createa a "bridge" between the dash board and arm rest? Look at the space under the gear shift. I'm not sure how the Prius compares space wise with the Honda Civic, which I currently drive, but I can recall how impressed I was that there was so much open space between the inside front of the car and front seats. Getting rid of the tunnel whether it was for transmission or gear shift was one of the best things the manufacturers did - I don't know why anyone would want to reverse that and purposely split the car down the middle again.

PS Mkuk0 why do you have to wait 2 months? (it's not due to a waiting list for the car to be made is it?)

The centre console thingy is almost the same as an Auris, the space under the arch is almost useless as it is so difficult to reach into

Timberwolf

My current company car is due for renewal just before Christmas (actually a bit more than 2 months oops) Wanted the T spirit but company wouldn't let me, so opted for T4 in dark blue (not seen many in that colour, the one I saw looked stunning)

I am actually quite excited by it all, I had one for a week on a test drive and I REALLY didn't want to give it back!

A whole week for a test drive, I am very jealous B) A few months will just fly by.

I was toying with the idea of hiring a Prius to see if I would like one, but predictably they are not that common and the links I've followed so far have been dead-ends. avisprestige.com so far is the only one and looking at the web-site, it doesn't mention sat-nav, so I am guessing that it isn't the t-spirit model, so much for the prestige in the title.

WOW, I would love a weeks test drive too, you were very lucky as I am contemplating as Prius when I next change.

I heard there was a new one in the pipline, but I have to say I prefer the current car inside. I really like the fact that it is so individual and so unlike anything else on the market.... just like the car itself. I guess the proof will be how it looks for real :)

I was lucky enough to actually sit in the new prius when I took part in concept cars appraisal. I was very impressed with the new enterior . It is very well designed . You also have a feeling that it is more spacious that the present one . I will be buying one purely because I loved the interior.

I'm sure the new Prius will be a fine car, but I don't think it'll be the huge advance that the current model was over the Mk1 version. I would be more concerned about the equipment levels, which on the current car are particularly measly.

So, Toyota, if you're reading this, we want, from base model upwards..........

Heated door mirrors (preferably electrically folding too).

A traction control override switch.

Full closure remote locking (all windows close when you lock the car from the remote).

An auto dim interior mirror.

Forget the double glove box gimmick, just give us one that locks (even if we have to use the emergency key).

We can already see the new model will have the same dismal rear visibility, so rear parking sensors as a minimum.

Anti hijack door locks (the doors lock automatically below 5 mph).

One click opening/closing of all windows from the driver's control panel.

That's my list, anything I've forgotten anyone?

Full post code input and safety camera alerts on the sat nav.

I will swap them for the parking assist that I have never used

The new Toyota Prius is due to be unveiled at the Detroit motor show in January, and could be launched in the UK in June 2009. CO2 emissions are down to around 90g/km, so it will be road tax exempt. Production will dramatically increase over the current model. Despite the economic downturn, Toyota are gambling on the new model being a huge worldwide success, and are investing in a new plant in Mississippi which will churn out all the left hand drive models, UK spec cars will continue to be supplied from Japan. Estate and coupe versions are planned.

Honda will also unveil their new Insight 5 door hybrid at Detroit, a coupe version has been designed and awaiting approval, along with a hybrid version of the Jazz.

The hybrid revolution steps up a gear.
