Wheels -

Im looking to get some new wheels off eBay -

I have 16" wheels on at the moment but am looking to up grade to 17" and not sure if they will fit straight on without any moding to arches -- havent had the Celica long so not sure of the specs

The new wheels im looking at are :

"BSS Challenge 7.5 x 17" - Tyres are 225/45ZR17 2x Pirelli PZero Rosso and 2x Continental ContiSport ZR - will fit VW Golf MkIV, SEAT Leon etc. or anything with 5 x 100, 57mm PCD and ET38 fitment"

Will these go on ?

Cheers guys

the 17s will go on mate but i suggest 40 and not 45 i have 17 in diablos on mine with 45 and they rub ever so slightly on full lock other than that they went straight on as long as they are 100pcd

I've got 17" alloys with 215/40's on my st205. Slightly too small for the rolling radius.

They came from an st202 where the radius was correct.

If you have an st205 using 17" wheels use 215 45's, on any other celica use 40's

or your speedo will be too far out.

But more importantly i doubt the bolts pattern will be exactly the same. Bit risky.

Hi m8 will fit no problem, i have 8x18's on mine with 225/40/18 tyres dont catch the arches on any lock.you can check what fits what at www.tyresave.com/fitments they even have a page to check what sizes you can use to keep your speedo readings correct

Cheers for all your help guys - The wheels went straight on and look the dogs......

Fizz - your right about the slight rubbing on full lock - buts its hardly noticable enough a problem when they look good.

Cheers again guys - one happy Celica owner

Hi, I'm using 205/40/17's on a set of Toora T910 wheels.

I'm pretty sure that they are the right specification for the wheel but a mate of mine seems to think they're outside acceptable specs and using them invalidates my insurance! :(

What are the standard wheel sizes for a 1997 St202?

They were on the car when I got it a couple of weeks ago, and at the time I just thought they were just put on to look flashy, not that they'd changed from what toyota would consider to be standard sizes for the car.

So firstly, am I using the correct tyres for those wheels?

and secondly does having them on invalidate my insurance? and if so should I quietly swap them for standard toyota wheels or just call the insurance company and say I've added a set of after market wheels? :help:

Having ANY aftermarket wheels on your car without notifying them will not neccessarily invalidate your insurance but they won't pay out for them if they get stolen or are damaged in an accident or by vandalism.

Basically you have two options you can notify the insurance company of your wheels for which they will hike your premium about 10% AND may still not cover the alloys or you can simply not tell them and in the event of them being stolen or damaged swallow it and buy new wheels out of your own pocket.

If the vehicle is in an accident where it is a total loss it may become questionable but you simply deny knowledge that they were aftermarket as they were on there when you bought the car and you didn't bother to look into every model of the car and what special editions might be available with various wheels etc.

I used to work in insurance and the myth that having a mod on your car without declaring it completely invalidates your insurance, IT DOESN'T unless you're talking full bodykit with engine conversion and wheels and exhaust and stereo etc.
