Ok,

Was overtaking today, 2nd gear lift..pulled in and the car cut out...wouldnt start for a second, then it sprung into life, driving ok but wont go past 3,000 rpm and the engine management lights are on...

Has anyone any ideas of what it could be...had plenty of oil and water and its driving 100% apart from the fact that it wont go over 3,000rpm.

Raging TBH, not as if the cars had a hard life!

I think it has something to do with limp mode or something or the other, has been a problem discussed before let me have a look at past forums.

Limp mode meaning the car has gone into protection mode. Im sure its something to do with being in protection hence why it wont go over 3krpm

but some one will be able to help as im certain someone has posted these issues before. Try disconnecting you'r Battery and reconnecting it and see what happens thats the only safe try i can give for the moment as everything should reset.

Have you recently installed a K&N typhoon or any other induction kit?

Check the Wires in your MAF, They may have come loose making your car go in to limp mode. QUite common with Typhoons as the wires get stretched too much.

If this is the case, you'll need to lengthen the wires and reset the ECU. Lights will go away.

You would be quite right my friend! Got it put on the computer this morning and it reported AFM. The mechanic immediately asked me had I put a filter on the car and yes, i got a Typhoon fitted about 3 weeks ago. There was a broken wire on the AFM, Fixed wire, cleared memory, rescanned it and the lights went off!

Car running perfect now...I was bricking it thinking the engine was wrecked and it was the stupid typhoon!
