i could cover the whole thing in black viniyl. altho i will be the first to admit its a ***** of a product to use!

cost im not sure of at the moment. was looking to see if i could pay a local company to make me a batch of ten boxes and see what the price comes out like. would be interesting.

i will get back with a price when all the designs are finalised etc.

i noticed one thing last night in the mr2

there is a cubby box in the back behind both seats. do all mr2's have them

seen 10-14v UV lights .. about 10" long (designed for PC's). about a tenner each.

Recon the perspex cover could be the stuff that lights up under UV ??

ok well i have designed the smallest possible angled box within the limits of the speaker size! it can go bigger but the top measurement of 100mm is the absolute min.

but it has near perfect volume (cubic foot space) as recomended by pioneer!

for example, pioneer recomend 0.3439649 cubic foot. i managed to get this box designed to

0.3439537 cubic foot!

8_inch_sub_box_360x300x160x100_2.sized.jpg

i am hoping that this will be the perfect size!

Is the above design for these??:

If not would you be able to do the same as above for the link above?? I might give the boxes ago this weekend :)

Cheers

Try looking at the JL audio site you could use the dimensions on there to give you a rough idea.

Failing that I could get you some dimensions.

To save you the Hassle here are the figures for an JL Audio 8W0

Sealed Enclosure Range: 0.30-0.60 cu.ft. (8.5-17.0 liters)

Ported Enclosure Range: 0.60-1.00 cu.ft. (17.0-28.3 liters)

Work to those figures and you cant go far wrong...its a cheapo sub so it isnt going to make a hoooge difference to the sound quality if you make tyhe enclosure a little smaller or larger than the above figures....

No worries!!

The roughg rule is basically the smaller the enclosure....the jighter and more punchy the bass will be..the larger the box the deeper the bass will be but it wont be as controlled (bit farty and flappy)

My enclosure with the 2 8W3's is actually 2 boxes one of them is the one you can see the second one is in the cubbie hole underneath...

Because the box is the right capacity the bass is mad....especially from 2 8's it really drops!

In my personal experiance 2x 8" subs is more than enough 1 x10" is ok but any more and its wayyyy tooo much bass!

Oh and before anybody calls me a tart...i had a 136dB install in my 406 so i know what Loud is (I am installing all the kit in my Audi A6 very soon!)

 :D

I want to see if there's room enough to fit a 12w3v2 behind each seat. Min box volume is 1 cubic foot or 28.3 litres.

I don't like bass unless it blurs my vision lol

Where there is a will there is a way....2 10W3's will have that effect!

***** my 2 8's make vision a problem...

The main issue you will encounter with big subs is they presurise the cabin too much and then the subs cant drive properly....and you risk damaging them.

With the 2x 10"s I can feel the air move in&out the T-bar when it's out and the windows are up ..

Hmm, I used to have a Kicker 15 L7 in a well desgined box in the boot of my Nova (no Nova comments thank you!).

I used to love that. It was taking 1000w RMS and I still had another 1000w RMS amp power but never got round to buying a second 15 L7 before I got rid of the car.

The roof used to flex with just the one in

On my 406 with 2 12W0's yes 12w0's the font and rear screens would move by about 6-10mm when it was beeing spanked...

All to do with box design....see thats why I say that 12's are over kill in an MR2....10's are close to over kill!!!.
