the first thing you'll need to decide is which MR2 you fancy.

The Mk1

Mk2

Or the Mk3

c3

All cracking cars in their own right, but very different from one another

Obviously your age and pricerange have a bearing on your decision too

gona want a mk2 for sure love the look of them

Don't know much about the Mark 2s myself, except that there are a lot of versions available ( e.g turbo/non - Tbar, tintop etc etc )

someone wiser than me can help you better.

anyone that can help then iv been told rev 3 is best? anything above that or something? deffinately want a turbo but whats t-bar and all that mean?

pretty much any good information at all about them would help lol

Personally, id look out for a SARD MC8-R ^_^

But other than that, stick Mk2 and get a revision 3, come quite cheap.

T-bars are the ones with uber sunroofs where you take the glass out completely (I have one)

and tin tops have no glass top but some with a sun roof I believe?

Turbo's are fun (I believe) I have never experienced one

An NA is fun, sounds nice and if you want more power you can have a 3l v6 conversion with super charger or turbo which means you'll rip most cars on the road!

Dont forget you get imports and non imports also, the body condition is normally better on an import as they dont put salt on the roads in Japan.

The Mk2 is cheap as chips at the moment, you get alot of car for your money with plenty of toys like folding mirrors, steering fog lamps and AC

how do i spot a rev 3? should i get one imported then do u think it would be better normally imports are in better condition and my glanza is an import turned out really well think i should import?

Posted

You dont have to import yourself, just get one that is an import.

Rev3's have 15 inch wheels as standard and they were the first Mk2's to have a 1 piece spoiler.

Rev3's have the updated rear lights and centre panel.

The Rev2 and Rev 3's have a larger front lip.

arite thanks for that man ill hav a look gna ring a-spec 2morro an importer around here ask them about one see what kinda price they'll give me

Watch out for the UK Spec 3sfe, it has a lower bhp than the rest as it has a Camery engine in it.

Posted

wats the difference in the uk spec man? anyone got ant pics maybe? of the uk spec and a rev 3?

Posted

All UK Spects are very similar to Imports its just that the 3sfe was never produced as an import so only found in UK versions..

The 3sfe normally doesnt have front fogs or a rear spoiler but could be added as an optional extra. Best way it to look at the engine!

3sfe is non turbo 110bhp Camry lump.

3sge is the non turbo 156bhp.

3sgte is the tubby version 220bhp and upward.

Search in this forum for examples of different engine bays.

(I would do it for you but I'm a bit busy at work!)

deffinately want a turbo

That rules out any UK cars anyway.

The tubbies are all imports (or conversions)
