Replacement Engine Dilemma

Just been told that my 01 Celica (140) is in need of a replacement short block and associated parts, current engine has 70k on it with full dealer history. This was by a reputable main dealer so I trust them

I did not realise the Celica does not have an oil level indicator..only pressure!! FK!!! My own fault but nevermind

The dilemma i have is this...the dealer has quoted about 2.5k parts n labour to replace it, assuming the head isn't warped(which i don't think will be since the the temperature never got high) - this will also be a 1yr warranty

I've managed to find an 05 engine with 21k and 6 months warranty for 940 inc delivery and VAT...

What should I do? How much will it affect the resale value if i have the certified replacement engine fitted by a main dealer (the dealer said they would do that if i could find one)

I intend to move the car on in 6 or so months so resale value is important. I paid 5k 3 months ago..

Any advice welcome on what i should do

Your Toyota dealer should replace it under the extended warranty (7 years or 112,000 miles I think) especially if you have a full Toyota service history.

Ask them about it.
