Steering Wheel

Have a 2003 UK model of Corolla (Luna). I will be replacing it in a few months (March 2009) but I am unhappy with the present steering wheel. It is the rubbery one (I think polyurethane or something like that) and it has lost its colour in a few places. The dark gray colour has become faded and it doesn't look nice. I know that the later models and the auris have leather steering wheels so was wondering is it something worth doing. Could the airbag and all the sensors on the current steering wheel be reused for a new one? I can see on eBay that people offer steering wheels but would prefer to go for a genuine one. How much would it cost

You cant put an Auris one straight on, and Toyota dont do an accessory one for your model. The genuine steering wheels cost a fortune, I would get one from a scrapper for the time being and put the money towards your new car

Thasnks for that. I can live with the current one for a few more months.

Another option would be to contact a company who reupholster car interiors and get them to cover the existing steering wheel in leather.

Or buy a steering wheel cover?

Not the best looking things but they would be your cheapest option.

Not worth spending too much if you're changing your car next year.

You beat me to it Gaz.............The "lace up- leather look" steering wheel covers can look quite acceptable if they are correctly installed and are probably your best bet if you wish to keep costs down

I like the lace up leather look but that's another story for a different forum :angel_not:
