Hi all,

Take delivery of some very nice alloys next week for my otherwise awesome T180 RAV4 and guess what? NO RUN FLAT TYRE'S!!!!! NO more £180 to £350 quotes for a new tyre,NO more bills of up to £45 for a puncture repair and a wasted day leaving it there,NO more worrying wether i can find someone to fix my tyre should i have a puncture when i travel more than 5 miles away from my local dealer and that i can travel abroad knowing i have a tin of get me home gunk at a cost of £4.99 in the boot.Best of all, puncture repair anywhere at a cost of £15.Toyota should be taken to court over this 'Run Flat Farce' if not, then Trading Standards! Soooo! Mr bridgestone/Toyota monopolistic partnership (Trade mark applied for! :D ) a big THANKYOU from the bottom of our hearts for your caring attitude to those of us who bought upwards of a £30,000 car unbeknowing of the fact it would be imobolised through a simple puncture, cheers! Was i made aware of the problem when i signed up for the car? i think NOT!!!!! Pictures will be posted!!!! watch this space.

For information there a set of HANZO DOTZ with 255/45/18 Dunlop SP9000

PS The bill will be sent to Toyota! think they'll pay?

I suspect not but I congratulate you on making that move and breaking out of that situation you were in. It is exactly what I would do.

I look forward to seeing the pics.

Don't forget to vote in the 4.3 poll!

This may seem like a "non-solution" to the problem, but would it be possible/advisable to fit normal stiff walled runflats to the T180? They would still be expensive but at least they would be more available than the current Bridgestones ( I've nothing against Bridgestone tyres - had two set in recent years with no problems ). Does anyone make a tyre of the right size and rating?

PS: I heard today that the farce over the Bridgestone run flat tyres and the toyota rav got airtime on radio 1. (Chris Moyles?) Did anyone hear this item? (just love it if this has hit national radio) :D

Regards to all

John

Sure he wasn't on about his own 'RUN FAT TYRE!' :D

Three cheers for Chris though! He's hilighted a problem nationally about everyones disgust at our treatment from the dreaded Bridgestone/Toyota partnership.

Lets hope they hang there heads in shame :crybaby:

Love the car

The wheels and tyre would be approx £1200,for those worried about driving around with the orange pressure light on,no need! the light doesn't iluminate.I can only assume the sensors only send a signal when tyre pressure is incorrect, funny thing is that when i turned the engine on a message on dashboard said my wheels had been nicked! :jawdrop:

How advanced is that then? :jester:

This might sound like a stupid question, but why was it fitted with run flats in the first place? Is there no spare wheel? My wife's Rav 4 has a spare wheel fitted on the rear but I have seem photos of UK Rav 4s that don't seem to have one. One of the reasons for her liking the Rav4 is that it has the spare wheel fitted at the back, makes it look like a 'proper' SUV apparantly according to herself!

The XTR (can of gunk instead of a spare), T180 / Sr 180 (Run-flats) have the clean look! B)
