I see Toyota sell a protection pack for the Aygo, mudflaps etc. I have heard mudflaps are quite easy to install, but whats the story on the rubber mouldings??...i want to get them, anyone got pics of their Aygo with them on??

I always reckoned the big rubber protection strips on the side were pretty ugly unless you could get them colour coded (which you can't officially)

other bits are available singly too so you can pick and choose, I got 4 genuine toyota flaps for £29 on eBay (from a toyota dealer)

saw the rear bumper protection also on eBay but thought it was ugly too...but then thats my opinion. :P

One of the reasons I chose the Carbon Black version. I didn't bother with the rear because I think the biggest risk is from parked cars (at supermarkets) hitting their doors against yours

Side mouldings are very easy to fit - just make sure the paint is v clean and take your time with it all.

You can always take the mouldings to a bodyshop - they could colour code them and most probably fit them too if you dont fancy it.

I have fitted plenty of colour coded mouldings to brand new cars (new car sales sorted the colour coding as you cant buy them from toyota already done)

Hi john i fitted side and rear mouldings to my 57 blue last year, they are self adhesive so if you remove yours there wont be any holes to fill .The adhesive runs all round the edge of the moulding about 10 mm wide it felt pretty good stuff so might be a bxxxxr to remove

Rubber mouldings.....

I've fitted them to mine. I think they make the car look better. Just my opinion.

Fitting instructions.

3 DOOR

5 DOOR

Make sure the area where the strips are to be fitted is spotlessly clean and

all polish removed before fitting. Use T-cut or anything similar.

Make sure the doors are warm with a fan heater. Once the adhesive strips touch they stick.

Once they've touched the door, they're on.

Removal.

Having just bought a second AYGO for my wife, I fitted the strips and then realised I'd

fitted them BELOW my very careful marks instead of ABOVE them. Oh no!

Use an assistant with a HOT hairdryer and start at the "rounded" ends.

Ensure the strip is HOT and the surrounding door is very warm.

Stick your fingernails under the rounded end and slowly lift. (It is hard work to start off)

Very gently and slowly, continue to work the strip away from the door keeping the

hairdryer blowing between the strip and the door. At the square ends,

slowly peel from the top to the bottom.

The adhesive foam strip streches before parting from the door but if you are careful and DON'T rush,

you can remove the strips this way and leave NO residue on the side of your car.

After removing my strips like this SLOWLY and CAREFULLY,

I was then able to stick them back on the AYGO in the correct position.

3M adhesive foam is very clever stuff.

SLOWLY & HOT (I blistered my thumb and fingers).

Good Luck......

You can see how long it takes to fit them,

look at the trees in the backgound!

WD40 or methylated spirit is good at dissolving adhesive residue

I can supply them to you, they don't come colour coded, but as above, a local bodyshop would paint them for you

PM me with your Reg number for an exact price

There are no holes to fill as they have double sided adhesive tape on them when they are supplied, however it is a strong carwashproof adhesive & I would suggest application of lots of hot water or use of hairdryer to soften the adhesive bond, meths or WD40 are also good solvents that don't damage the paint,

Thanks for all the replys, i think ill have a go at removing them this weekend. I had thought about colour coding them silver but haven't had the best experience colour coding plastic.
