Boot Won't Unlock

:( A follow up to my previous post. Moonroof closed by garage followed by central locking fuse needing replacing. Tried the boot today and it won't open. With remote I can see the lock twitch but pressing the lock does not release. I tried with the key as well. It will only seem to engage one way. Any ideas please folks?

When my CarinaE estate hatch door sometimes "locks out" I find a swift strike ,(Sometimes a few.) With the soft part of your fist around the lock & catch areas then locking /unlocking aswell afterwards does the trick. (As an emergency measure of course :naughty: ) Obviously you'll have to have a good look at the mechanism to find the underlying problem if it persists.

Found a post:

and it did the trick. Garage must have used the key to lock the boot at some stage.

Thanks DTO and Steve. :)

What model/year?? Mine (2008/08) has diagrams in the owners manual showing how to remove an internal panel on boot door (from inside) then tweak it open with big screwdriver. Have you RTFM'd ??

Best of lick

Thanks for the reply, there appears to be nothing in the owners manual.(2003)

Problem may not be exactly the same but I was taken in by ....

""Garage must have used the key to lock the boot at some stage.""

The car has just come back from the body shop after an encounter with an over zelous 4x4 driver.

The boot release lever in the cabin works, the key works but when you press the boot release on the remote the car just beeps at you and no boot opening?

I was woundering if the remote boot opening could have been disabled?

We can have the body shop fix the problem when they return our floor mats that went missing!

If it works off the key and off the boot release in the cabin just not of the remote and the car has had a run in with a 4x4 might be a loose wire some where, especially if the boot was hit by said 4x4 driver.
