Safe Scratch Remover For Rav 4 Black Paint

The wife has some minor surface scratches on her black Rav 4 which polish can't remove/mask, so I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good scratch remover that will gently remove light scratches without damaging the paintwork. The colour is a flat black, not metallic, but I don't know if it has a lacquer coat or not.

There are several scratch removal products you can buy, for Eg....... http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing/po...-x/prod_48.html

The general rule with scratches is - if you can feel them with your finger nail then they are unlikely to 'polish out'

If the scratch has gone through the clearcoat (laquer) then the above might help take the worst 'edges' of the mark but will never fully remove it, and you might need to get the panel repainted or at least have the scratch 'filled' back to the original level of the existing paint then polished flat again.

Also have a black rav with all solid colours, either for polishing out, touch ups or scratches, depending on the depth, would suggest initially course cutting compound followed by medium cutting compound and then finishing with silver polish eg: silvo then finish it off with a damn good coat of wax - hope this helps

Thanks for the info guys, scratches are only light surface scratches so I'm hoping to remove without needing to re-touch up the paint.
