Getting Air Con To Work Again

Hi,

I've got the aircon and econ modes on the centre heater panel thing. Neither of the lights light up when i press the buttons in and the air con doesnt come on - in short it dont work.

Does anyone have any suggestions that may help to get it up and running again?

I know nothing about why its not working and presuming there may be another way to make it work without having to buy new stuff.

If by the end of this thread we all think its a no go, then i'll rip all the air con gear out and bin it...(like to save weight!)

Cheers

Adam

(Ps, are the lights not working because they're <I thought I could get past the swearing filter - what a sad muppet I am eh?>ed or because the whole system is faulty?/ knackered?

take it to an AC place - they'll check for nothing ..

do the engine revs rise when you click AC ?

could just be the button ..

No, i looked for that, nothing happens - you cant hear the compressor either so i think it's buggered. Any ideas?

It's unlikely to be out of AC gas - as this doesn't cause the lights on the buttons to not work.

First thing to check is the fusebox(es) - look for the fuse for the AC unit - check that it hasn't blown.

There are 3 fuse boxes .. on in the engine bay (doubtful), one under the front bonnet (possibly) and one in the drivers footwell on the door side (most likely)..

The list of what fuse does what is on the cover .. pull it out and have a look.

BIBBS,

I've looked at the fuse boxes and the only one i think it could be is in the front bonnet stating A.C.

Its a 10amp fuse. So do you reckon if i replace this and it still wont work - im <I thought I could get past the swearing filter - what a sad muppet I am eh?>ed???

I'm sure it's the fuse. I've blown one before and the buttons won't light up.

If the connection to the compressor breaks or you are low on gas the buttons still light up. It's probably just something simple like the fuse.

changeed the fuse and it lights up - which is good - so does the econ button. I still dont think its working proper bo, so i'll get toyota to look at it when its next in for somethin else.

Have you checked the compressor is working - is there still a belt attached? It might be worth checking the rads at the front, the air con one is behind the standard rad, if the core is knackered on the standard rad there may be no air getting to it. Also see if the fans are still working.

Matt.
