Hoping I'm not being premature signing up here, as I've yet to pick up my 6 month-old dealer-owned Aygo+. (Can't wait to finish work on Thursday!).

Sorry to be letting my trusty Honda Civic go, but age means unpredictable repairbills, so city car (for country-driving) here I come!

We've two young boys, so the G-reg Volvo estate will remain the low-mileage family car. That seems to cost less to keep going than the Honda anyway.

Anyway, can't wait to drive, rather than "waft" around rural Cumbria every day!

Sadly, ay-no-go at present. Had my finance stalled with the request for bank statements to back up application. Don't know if this means I have something I don't know about in a credit file, or a random check, or credit-crunch-itis. Still, no unpaid direct debits etc that I can think of, so hopefully all will be resolved tomorrow (I can't normally find the sofa without a map - and I obviously wouldn't ask for directions :D - but found the requisite motivation to retrieve said bank statements, which are now lodged firmly in the dealer's letterbox!).

In the meantime, as my insurance was timed to switch over at 5pm today, they've lent me a 2.0D Auris (which hopefully means they think the finance will be OK in the end). Much, much fun to be had driving to work tomorrow! Trouble is, half of me is going to struggle to swap the Auris keys for the aygo or anything else!

When I dropped the documents round an hour ago, I could see me aygo-in-potentia parked in the airlock, pining for me. Fingers crossed for tomorrow, please!

Well, it turns out I'm not creditworthy - no idea why, as all seems to be in order. Nonetheless, kind, kind in-laws have done a Federal Reserve job and bailed us out until I can unknot whatever is going on with my credit rating! Now just waiting for cheques to clear whilst I carry on playing with the dealer's Auris T3. Certainly comfy, smart and powerful enough to drive up the side of a house, but a bit sterile. Also, not had a "shift light" before, and it's ofending my liberal sensibilities being told what gear I must drive in - just glad it doesn't beep at me too! Anyway, dealer worked hard on this, and hasn't left me trrying to re-insure my px in the meantime or anything, so I'm pleased, and awaiting a call to say they've cashed the cheques, and then..aygo a-go-go!

  • 2 weeks later...

Tomorrow is D-day! Two weeks after I should have collected it, I shall hand in my 2nd Auris loan-car (The tax ran out on the T3, and the SR I've had since has been really rather "vibrant" on country roads. Suppose it's time to end my "The Diesel-may-care" attitude and start ekeing as many miles as I can out of the new eco-toy) and learn to love my nearly-new Aygo! I tried to convince my boss that it warranted a day off in the same way any other new baby would, but obviously wasn't quite persuasive enough!
