Your Celica is a post-facelift model so should be OK with the oil consumption, they fixed it in the post-facelift version.

Having said that, get yourself into a routine of checking your oil and other fluids every week, just like you should with all cars.

Only other weak spot as far as I know with the 140 is the rear brake discs, they can be prone to rusting. Mine certainly were when I had a 140. I don't know if this problem affects the facelifted 140 though.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable about the 140 will be along :) I only owned one for a few months before I got shot of it for using loads of oil!

I'd agree with GazChap, just want to add that my front Discs lasted just 6K miles on my "54" plate which I purchased new. Now replaced with Red Dot Discs and Pads which are fine.

Just my tuppence worth.........

I had an '04 Celica, premium+style pack for just over twelve months, and all I had to buy for it during that time was two front tyres.

It never used a drop of engine oil and the brakes were always good.

Anyone know where I could get hold of an alloy wheel center cap? It's for a Celica 140bhp gen7 year 2000(x) spec prem&dynamic 17" alloys and the cap has the shape of a celica on it.Not seen many of these wheels on other celicas and getting nowhere searching the net!
