Need For Speed Underground

Probably the entirely wrong forum for this, but since some of you play with PC's and PC Games for a living, I thought I'd give it a try...

I am having some problems installing Need For Speed Underground.

1] On inserting disc1 I am told that there is not enough free space on my harddrive - true. It states it needs 2Gig free space :o I have 399Meg :!Removed!:

It then gives me other options as far as the amount of info to install I choose the set-up that will need to run a lot of the software from the dics (slower and irritating I know - I have no choice other to upgrade my 5 year-old PC)

2] Installation completes as above selection of files loaded to harddrive. I am now being told that a .DLL file is missing. It is the D3D9.DLL file. How/where do I find it and how do I get it to be recognised by the software?

Any ideas advice appreciated

Where are u up to, ive only had it for a while. Finally got myself a decent supra though lol, gone from the dodge neon thing, to subaru, then nissan 200zx (think) and now on the supra. The game is ok, true its not GT, and its kinda embarrasing kitting out a neon, but to me that was a better option over the Golf :lol:

Thats a point... I only have DirectX8 on my machine and the game did mention something about DirectX9... Doh!

I would have thought DirectX9 would have come on one of the discs...???

When I am home again I will give it a try

is it a real version of the game or a copy ?

It's the real, authentic 100% version.

I am also going to try installing the game on Nicola's computer and see if that makes any difference.

My PC was "entry level" four years ago, but I have since upgraded and improved many areas of it. I think I am going to build my own from scratch (keeping a few of the cards) very soon as I need it to do very specific things now that I have learned how to use them pretty well.

Yep - My Skyline is whooping some ***** :D

I've won all the tournaments now, and am ranked 2nd in everything. I can smell the final showdown with Eddie.

Bring it on!

By the way, I found this game to be so much harder on the PS2 than on the PC for some reason. Anybody else found this? (I started on the PC, then bought a PS2).

I've got BB .. can NfS be played over a network?

It certainly can. Razor Rage was going to organise a TOC racing club for the PC, but it seems to have died a death. Xbox players (which I am not) were supposed to be getting together this week - don't know if it happened

I would just like to add that today I tried Garricks 'Need for speed' cd's on my computer.

It worked perfectly first time (so I got to race a celica).

Maybe the game should be mine.

(I don't have broadband for a group game though)

Yep it does help to "RTFM" when it doesn't work.

I was able to load directX9 onto my machine from the disc last night and run the game. But unfortunately my machine was "entry level" 4 or 5 years ago and is extremely slow with the game even though I have increased memory and put in a G-Force 3D graphics card a while back. My harddrive is only 5Gig in total :!Removed!:

New PC being built soon...
