Side Of Boot Scuffs Every Time I Lift Lower Compartment Lid

I have a one week old Yaris and have been disappointed to find that each time I lift the lid of the lower boot compartment it scuffs and marks the plastic interior sides of the boot. Has anybody else had this problem? Seems to be a bit of a design flaw.

Maybe I should add a picture...I just wondered if it was a common problem or if there is something wrong with my new car. There isn't much room to lift the lid at all - which is why it catches on the plastic surface each time.

No replies from anybody on here but I checked out the other new Yaris models in the showroom at the dealership on Monday and they were all the same. It seems it's just poor design.

Can't say I use the underneath bit much, but now you mention it, yes it does rub on the sides. Don't think there is much Toyota could do about it though, if the compartment lid was smaller it would risk shaking loose and rattling in in the boot.

I think they all do that. Even the old Yarisisisis(?) scuff a bit when you lift the boot liner thingy!

Why dont you buy some sticky clear film and cover the boot panels with it where it scratches? Then it wont scratch the plastics anymore.
