well today after work i decided to take my car for a spin and test the brakes and to be honest im a little bit disapointed or there is something wrong.

firstly my brakes are creating loads of heat, wheel is barely touchable, and i can smell this heat when driving and braking.

secondly my brakes still feel week when braking at high speeds

thirdly i checked my brke fluid once got the car home and the brake fluid container was nearly overflowin, way above the max mark. is this normal ?

also do i need to sort of bed my brakes in ? something must be wrong surely

:o

Something sounds wrong there mate!

When i fitted my rear brake discs the passenger side disc was catching on the backplate making a horrible scraping noise and generating a lot of heat.

Sorted it by using a hammer and tap on the backplate to create the extra mm clearance the disc needed

Did you disconnect the calipers completely or just leave them hanging when you changed the discs?

I'd deffo take your wheels back off and double check everything, if your wheel is hot something is catching!

mr t has a habit of adding brake fluid when its below the max - the level drops as the pads and discs wears. use a baster and put level back to normal. as ckman said you need 1 - 200 miles bedding in period or you'll glaze the pads rendering them almost useless. i'm still amazed peeps on here buy ebc? but hey - what do i know!!

i got a toyota and lexus specialist to fit them for me so i thinik they will have fitted them correctly,i was busy and needed doing asap .

so if they need beding in i shouldnt have been driving fast and trying to brake harsh ? oops !

i can hear a little taping noise , doesnt sound like a metal tap, more like a rubber/plastic tap, it gets faster when i go faster and its fairly quiet, any ideas ? sure i had this noise before brakes though !

well im going out now to get some stella :D i will brake less harsh and see when i get home if wheels are hot.

oh so i could have glazed them ? is that bad i hope i havent :(

right just been out in car, wheels arnt as hot as when i was testing brakes, i can hear a noise but im not sure where its coming from or what is causing it, doesnt sound nasty anyways.

got a couple of pics of my brakes and pads, my pads seem to be very close or even touching the disk? is this right ?

and does my disk look glazed ?

Exactly right, it says on the instructions that you give at atleast 300miles, light breaking advised before that.

Cheers

from the pics it looks okay.

redstuff takes ages to bed in. Mine took a good 500 miles to bed in however if you are getting weird noises then there is something wrong. you will find them considerably hotter for the first few hundred miles. When you got your redstuff did they have a bedding in coating? if they did that'll heat your discs up a treat.
