Is a 1999 "HEAT" 2 or 4WHEEL and how would I tell whick of the models are 4 or 2 ?

My feeling is that this will be a limited or special edition 4WD but just look underneath for a prop shaft to the rear axle.

Toyota has released a new special edition version of its popular RAV4 (Recreational Activity Vehicle with 4-wheel drive). Known as the 'heat', it marks a link with the new TV, movies and music weekly listings magazine of the same name.

Available in both 3 and 5-door RAV4, the 'heat' uses the well proven and sporty, 1998cc, double overhead camshaft engine which gives sparkling acceleration, comfortable cruising and good fuel economy.

With permanent four-wheel drive, the RAV4 'heat' has maximum traction under all road conditions. Independent suspension all round, power steering and front ventilated disc brakes are standard equipment - ensuring the RAV4 drives and handles like a performance hatchback rather than a more conventional off-roader.

The RAV4 'heat' is defined by unique decals and a set of RAV4-logoed floor mats is also part of the package.

Large 16-inch alloy wheels with chunky Yokohama 235/60 tyres are fitted inside purposeful wheelarch extensions and a discreet spoiler is added to the rear roof of the vehicle. A suspension cross brace is fitted between the front suspension towers to give better handling and more responsive steering.

The four speaker audio system features an RDS tuner and CD player with removable security panel.

The RAV4 'heat' 3 door is available with or without an electric tilt/sliding sunroof as standard and comes in three striking colours: Cool Water (a metallic blue) with grey bumpers and cladding, Silver Graphite (metallic) with silver bumpers and cladding and Astral Black with silver bumpers and cladding.

RAV4 'heat' 5 door models are available in Astral Black with silver bumpers and cladding and metallic Silver Graphite with silver bumpers and cladding. Additionally, 5 door 'heat' also has an electric sunroof and an accessory power socket in the rear luggage area as standard.

When I phoned the salesman to ask if the Heat was 2 or 4 wheel he said 2.....Guess this tells me something, can`t for the love of me think what ?

Check if it has 1 or 2 steering wheels inside. Maybe thats what the salesman refers to.

Perhaps he meant someone had nicked 2 of the wheels
