Central Locking

Hello,

yes I know, not a new topic at all, but I could'nt find a solution via searching the forum:

Just board an Avensis GS, petrol, 1999, no remote controlled key, no owner manual. I can lock and open all doors from the inside (door panel), but the key neither opens nor locks all 4 doors. It only works for the driver's door. Any hints are highly appreciated.

Cheers

It's probably the door latch unit inside the door that's failed. They are common on the early mk1 model Avensis. The microswitch packs up and only locks the drivers door because you are manually turning the lock barrel. The central door locking doesn't operate when the microswitch is faulty. The door locks from the master switch inside because it is receiving the signal to lock the door hence why it works inside on the master switch and not outside with the key.

Thank you very much. That might be the prob. Is it worth to replace/repair the unit?
