Hello there,

I am new to this forum and new to owning a toyoa lucida/estima MPV............ ok, I bought the 2.2td automatic for £800 a few weeks back. After the first week

there was diesel leaking underneath so I was recovered to nationwide auto centre for some repairs....... I asked them to check the vehicle over and £700 later I have it back! it needed a new flexi hose, service, new tyre and a new seal on one of the diesel injectors....... anyway! when I got the car I test drove it around town and didnt really see or feel any problems with it, so I bought it. Then when I went on the dual carrageway I noticed a couple of issues...... after about 40mph, the engine light shows amber and the car drives like a bag of *****. No power at all and I am left behind the lorries doing about 50-60mph flat out with the light showing. if I brake or slow down the light goes out, power picks up and off I go again just to face it all over again. I have no problems starting the car and around town its fine, no loss of power and seems as good as gold. Its a J reg and toyota said they can do engine diagnostics for £60 for 30 mins. I wanted to ask here before I go and see them. Also when the car is idle, the revs sometimes drop and there is a knocking noise under the bonnet. If I move the steering wheel to a different position it stops! Its like something is banging into something so if anyone can shed any light I would be very happy!

I find this car so useful with so much room and actually quite nice to drive............. just dont want to spend hundreds more on it if possible as I paid out nearly as much in repairs so far than I did for the car!..........

thanks

My friend my personal opinion on these cars are that they are the black sheep of the Toyota family and have a nasty habit of consuming cash at a rapid rate. BUT that is just my personal opinion and so now I am going to guide you to a place where you can get help.

You need to sign up to either

www.estima-motoring.co.uk

or

www.estimaowners.com

Best of luck.

Yes blocked fuel filter but the reason I point Estima owners to that forum is that there are few guys on this one that are skilled on these vehicles whereas the other forums are dedicated to these cars.
