Welcome to the club Mike :)

There is an ipod kit available for the Rav, but I'm not sure if it is compatible with the sat nav in our cars!

With have a member called Parts-King (we call him Kingo for short) who not only is a hit with the ladies but also able to supply parts at discounted prices for TOC members!

With a bit of luck he'll look over this thread tomorrow, and come back with a price for us :D

P.S Don't forget to vote for Rav in the owners poll!

Last week I had the so called Toyota iPod Integration Kit fitted to my T180 by the selling dealer as a part of the deal.

The kit is compatible with the SatNav B9004 head unit and it does work but ... it is not perfect.

The kit pretends to be a 6-disc CD changer.

Specifically for the T180 I bought iPod Classic 120GB and loaded it with tens of my CDs.

I organised the albums in playlists and the kit matches all these playlists in turn to 6 discs !

There are no search options.

Trying to find the album I want is terribly slow. One just moves forward through these lists / CDs one at a time.

Also the B9004 does not display playlist and track names ... at least I was not able to figure out how to do it.

This is actually one of the reasons why I searched the web for some solution and answers to this problem and then came across this forum. :D

However I must admit the sound quality is good.

The reason why I wanted the iPod kit is because the other alternative was another 6-disc underseat CD changer.

At the time of purchase I thought it would be better to have all my CDs copied on to an iPod.

I still think it is a great idea it is just the solution in the form of that kit that is far from perfect.

The head unit will only count 6 playlist then start counting again so playlist 7 is displayed as 1 and playlist 8 is displayed as 2 etc. You can access title and track info by scrolling the DISP/TEXT button.

Pressing and holding the scroll button on the steering wheel chnages the playlists quite quickly and with the names on the display you can quickly find them.

Do you have the proper operating manual?

If you pm me with your email address I will send it to you.

Cheers.

PS I also hardly use my CD changer since having the Ipod interface.

Thanks for the reply.

Really I should have taken a snapshot of the head unit screen in that CD CHANGER / iPod mode to illustrate what I meant.

Anyway, I do have the "manual" (downloaded from that useful toyota-europe etc AIG site :) ) so in theory I know what I am supposed to "press" / "scroll".

The trouble is I cannot locate that DISP/TEXT button on the B9004 SatNav head unit. :(

I doubt it exist at all.

When iPod is playing and I press Audio button I see :

top row : disc and track numbers (but no names)

middle space : six lovely buttons for direct access to 6 playlists / discs

bottom row : access buttons to Sound and that other automatic sound level adjustment functions

There is a DISP button somewhere on the unit itself but I have not found the TEXT function anywhere so far.

anchorman, do you have the B9004 SatNav head unit in your RAV4 ?

No I have standard head unit but the functions are supposed to be the same. Some of the others have the B9004 so wait until they look in.
