Bad Starter

Recommended Posts

Hi all - Wonder if anyone would kindy point me in the right direction - I have an L reg 2l carina exec auto 3sfe - Bought the car at 50k miles fsh 1owner immaculate - Now had it two years and in all that time it's been a bad starter: dosent matter whether its summer or winter I seem to have to keep the starter motor going longer than what it ought to i.e. when it starts firing I keep the starter going a few seconds longer. It's ok once it's warmed up.

What might the problem be?

Many thanks

Have a look at the dizzy cap and arm to make sure it's making contact, these are cheap to replace.

also look at anything to do with the cold start.
