Engine Oil Pressure Light Problem

Hi, Can anyone help me with a problem with an engine oil pressure light on my D4d 'o5 engine.

I pressure washed the front of the engine block a while back and for a while after the oil pressure light was flickering on and off. I forgot about it thinking it would dry out.

Now the oil pressure light has gone off completely, even with just the ignition on!

I have tried grounding the wire that connects to the pressure switch with a phase tester to try and see if its the pressure switch thats defective but the dash light still won't come on.

Q. If it is the dash light, how big a job is it to replace it. (From the schematic it doesn't look like a conventional bulb). It shows it as a "Combination meter"?.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If your pressure switch has a single wire, the only thing it can do when switching is to earth the circuit or break the circuit. (normally they earth to switch on the light, break to switch off). Ground the wire to the cylinder block (ignition on) and see if the light comes on (without the phase tester). Chances are that it will and you need a new switch.
