Bubbled Alloys

Hi

Rav in for 1st mot and so gave it a look over myself before hand. Noticed the alloys were bubbling and that the surfice was not damaged, so had come from the inside out. Showed the service guy and he said he would take some pictures and would send them off? and get back to me.

3 weeks later I telephoned him to hear that he hasnt had a reply yet?

I cant remeber who is the chap in here that is a dealer as is the place I took mine, but it sounds like bull sh.. to me. Any one know the proceedure or the chap with the dealership on here.

Chap used twice in one paragraph - dont think I have ever used that word before in my life!!

Hi Nick

I had three alloys replaced just before the three year warranty ran out and the first MOT was due. My service dept told me that they could change any wheels showing corrosion under warranty so long as they were not damaged any way. It sounded like Toyota would probably reject the claim if the wheel had any kerb damage.

I would ring your dealer and ask to speak to the service manager to progress your warranty claim ASAP.

When I had mine done, I spoke to the dealer on the phone, he said bring it in. They then looked at them, Hmmmed a bit and said "Yup, we'll replace them" - no pictures or sending anything off, instant decision.

Then when it went in for service week or so later, they did the deed with the swapover.

Same here. They are being replaced in a couple of weeks. Service guy said it happens because the wheels are made in Japan and the road salt over there is much milder/different than the stuff we use here.

Anyway, Mr T is paying ;)

Warranty runs out early Nov.

Phone the service manager every day. He'll get you the wheels to shut you up!!!

It works on the same principle as the "I know a song that'll get on your nerves, get on your nerves, get on your nerves....................." song.

However, if you don't get on his nerves phone another dealer. Most will welcome the warranty work.

Dear chap

The dealer on here is maybe Kingo - he'll profer some knowledge when he gets back from his long weekend!!

And like the others said - 3 weeks is long enough - just escalate the problem.

As a slight aside and a general comment, I reckon it is always worth giving the car a good clean before taking it in for a warranty claim, especially on something that could be considered 'cosmetic' - If the garage sees that you take pride and car in your car, then they are less likely to think any fault lies with you
