Leather Vs Cloth

Are the leather seats more comfortable than the cloth ones?

The cloth covering the centre console feels very soft to the touch, how well does it stand up to wear and tear?

Leather gives a much better look to the car interior. It is harder wearing than cloth and easier to clean. I cannot say about comfort as I have not driven a Prius with cloth upholstery. I do have lower back pain at times but even after long journeys I have had no back pain and from what all the passengers I have carried tell me I can say the seats are very comfortable.

My car was 3 months old when I purchased it and it came with leather upholstery and that was one of the reasons I bought the car. It was also a saving on buying brand new.

Chris.

Three things i am not happy with about with leather seats in toyotas and i have owned several "landcruisers" firstly without heated seats they are very cold "back seats" in winter. Secondly if you have young children who like to scramble onto the rear seats then be very aware that they scuff very quickly "shoe buckles ect" and soon looked very shabby. Finally i use to carry a disability lekky scooter in the boot of my landcruiser and i was shocked to find further bad wear on the rear of the back seats in the boot area due to carrying the lekky scooter on further investigation i found that the rear leather covering on all seats throughout the vehicle was not leather but a leather cloth look alike material and not the real thing "leather" this totally put me off having leather seats again from toyota.

Leather seats appear to be a very polarised (if that's the correct word?) subject - if the American priuschat forum is typical, strong opinions on both sides, and so far I haven't found a clear answer on the wear and tear of the soft cloth covering the centre console.

I spent about an hour and half with my back against the soft arnchair like padding of the cloth seat when I took a test drive, and my back was sweaty and no doubt the seat had to absorb some of that moisture. I wondering if leather seats would have been better, or if I the seats would have become slippery because of the moisture??
