2 Week Aygo - 3 Times Serviced Already

I bought Toyota Aygo from Sims Toyota in Northampton 2 weeks ago.

And now I'm very upset.. I'm going to Sims Toyota for the 3rd time to have it serviced.

1st... backing plate was rubbing brake disc.. fixed

2nd... rattle coming from a pillar between pasenger's window and the windscreen... they said they glued it or something..

3nd... it s rattles again!! Same thing... going to Sims Toyota again to have it fixed.

I'm wasting my time and money. This time I demanded a courtesy car as I'm not going to pay for taxis anymore.

If they won't fix it properly this time I'll ask them to give my money back. Enough is enough.

PS. I'm going to contact Trading Standards Office as I need some advice.

I have had mine about 2 months now and it has to be said and as most people say on here the quality in the vehicle is poor if we are being honest. The glovebox handle has broken twice on me and they changed it last week. Kids think its brilliant and cool.

I have downgraded and am not really expecting quality, just happy that I am get a lot of mileage from my car and its costing me far less than my last car!! In hindsight probably should have bought a citroen or peugeot as it seems to be the same car! I keep telling people its a toyota or at least the engine is??? Hope so!

If I pay £9k+ for brand new car I don't expect it to rattle like 20 year old shed

Your probably right, I payed £8.5 for a platinum with air con, and some mats. got a boot liner from peugeot for £30 quid.

Like i said earlier I should have gone for one of the others if the quality is the same but cheaper

I don't buy French cars :P And this one is the first Japanese one. Next car defo is going to be German again.

but they all come out of the same factory in the czech republic... so none of them are french or japanese, theyre all czech cheap crap anyways! lol

i paid just under 8k for mine, and in all fairness i hate the quality, but its saving me a hell of a lot of money on mileage/insurance/tax so id rather just keep my mouth shut.

It's my first Japanese (Czech) car. I didn't expect much.. The interior looks cheap, all this plastic trim looks very poorly manufactured, no match for a quality of German cars. But rattling from day 1 that's something what I wouldn't expect from any car. Maybe it's unfortunate that I have 10 year experience with German cars only.

Anyway rather than getting my money back I would very much prefer to have it fixed. We bought this car for my wife as second car for her commuting, The idea was to have 2nd car cheap to run because we want (or rather I want ;)) to buy much more expensive to keep family car (WRX STI)

And Aygo is a nice car and it would be really perfect for us without that rattle noise.

The most reliable Toyota's are those built in Japan ;) The original Yaris was built in Japan and then got moved to France for production. This Toyota is built in the Czech Republic and is not as reliable as other Toyota's built in Japan. It is cheap as chips though so I think it is down to perception on what you are getting. If you bought it because it was a Toyota then well you might be disappointed, as mentioned above bits of it are but really you could get any of the Pug / Cit / Toy cars and it would be the same quality.

With mine the steering wheel was not on straight, the rear speaker vibrates and the glove box lid handle broke. Perhaps Korea is the new Japan !

As long as it is cheap to fix, it doesn't leave me stranded and the running costs are low that will do me. More and more small cars will be built down to a price, including the German ones.

Yeah.. maybe you're right.

But I had a test drive before I decided to buy Aygo.. I saw how cheapish it looked, I realized how slow it was.. But there was no rattle there when I was making my decision

I don't expect too much. It the rattle is fixed then I'll be happy with it.

My overall view of the Aygo having had mine about 3 months is that it's finish is a bit poor for a Toyota and also starting to look a bit poor against other small cars. On the plus side I do enjoy driving it but have a lot of niggles about how well it'll last, I've just noticed a few drips of water making inside the passenger door :(

I think I've already switched to thinking about it as a stop gap car for a couple of years, with the updated smaller Fords coming out and other brands looking at this market sector there will be a better selection of economical small cars around.

Just to make it clear I fully appreciate that when it does go wrong it should be fixed quickly. 2 goes for the rattle is 1 too much and a car from Toyota to bide you over should be a give. Nice Lexus maybe! :D

It's annoyingn when you keep having to take time to sort it out. Good luck!

With my own Aygo I will drive it into the ground and at the same time save money for my next car. As Matt said the small sector is getting more players.

Wouldn't it have been better just to do the job properly first time?? They've done some crap job and hoped that would do.. Unfortunately poor car quality of the car goes together with poor service.

I had the car serviced today. They replaced the trim as it was deformed.

I had a short test drive on the way back home and I didn't hear anything. I hope it will stay that way.

Hi,

I've had mine for about 6 months now - I had a 'sensible' moment and worked out how much I would save if I changed from an alfa V6 to a 50+mpg Aygo. I get between 58 and 63mpg and have saved and absolute truckload. I have done 10k miles and only had a few niggly rattles in the rear - turned out to be the spare wheel rattling about. I am not sure what input the French manufacturers had in the car I knew the engine was a Toyota jobby and that was enough for me. Whenever there is a problem I always say to myself "That must've been the bit that Citroen designed". :D

Hope your rattles are now sorted

Cheers

It must be 95% of the car designed by Peugeot/Citroen. I was driving Yaris 1.0 T3 all day yesterday and inside it looks nothing like Aygo. The interior is much more solid ie. pillars and not flexible like in Aygo and better fixed and attached. The quality is much better, but it still looks cheap though.

Driving experience: I must say I prefer Aygo over Yaris. Yaris is like overweight Aygo and really needs bigger than 1.0 engine.
