Hid Headlight Conversion

Recommended Posts

Thinking of fitting a HID headlight conversion kit, amongst the other bits and pieces that need doing.

Has anyone tried it and was it a sucess. Looking at proper H4 conversion Kit

Have found a spot for the ballast packs on each side.

Kingo - would it invalidate the warranty?

In Holland the rule is that cars before 01/01/2007 may have aftermarket xenon lights installed.

I installed a Bi-Xenon kit in my CityBug, click here for more info.

I've got HID in my Aygo and allthough they DID cause me some grief,

it all got sorted out and I'm quite happy with the system now...

I took off the bumper and removed the headlights to install the lights,

since removing ths is only 10 minutes of work and saves a LOT of hassle...

There's plenty of space behnd the headlights on the shocktowers to mount the ballasts:

My set is H4-3, which means it has both high and low beams in xenon,

by physically moving the bulb to a second point of focus.

The set is 6000k, so nice WHITE light, with a very light blueish hue:

Try "HIDS4U.co.uk" brilliant company. Just put your car details into webpage box ( excellent website as well ) & they tell you what would suit. Had company recommended to me by Forum User on the Corolla section. Chose CE approved 35w kit with 6000k bulbs to keep it all road legal, live in the countryside no street lighting of any kind no longer drive around on full beam blinding people.

I took a look at that site but I think they are pretty expensive.

You can easily buy xenon sets for much less on eBay for example.

@REFZ: UK sets seem to be more expensive due to the smaller market for Left Hand traffic...

And H4 bulbs are directional due to the "bend" in the light pattern...

@Jan

But I always thought that the shape of the reflector in the light unit is the only thing that is different between RHD and LHD vehicles. Are you sure that the bulbs are also different for RHD and LHD vehicles?

I'm 80% sure; the little "cup" around the dipped beam filament is shaped asymmetrical on some H4 bulbs...

Assuming the Aygo uses a standard type bulb like an H4 or H3 they should be identical as they will conform to ISO/EURO standards.
