Hi,

What do you guys use as a caliper paint?

Is hammerite smooth good enough? or is this worth the extra like 15 quid for a kit????

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=220285731565

Also what colour would anyone recommend for a black t sport with standard wheels at the min? i'm thing yellow or red??? i am thinking of getting some white 17's or 18's though

Thanks for any help

Craig

I've always used smooth Hammerite on my car's calipers with no problems.

On my Celica I used copper / gold colour.

that same kit i used on mine mate

i'd go for red as it colour codes with with lights behind dials an with seats, also if your goin for the white decals you won't see them to well with the yellow

red it is then

would you say its worth the money when hammerite is only like £6 quid a can or something?

has anyone used both to give an opionion?

Also people go on about painting the disc hubs is that worth doing in a different colour?

i don't know why but i am really nervous about using hammerite smooth on the calipers even tho every other forum and this one say its fine, i looked at a tin of it in focus today and it never said anything about the heat range.

can anyone reassure me further? i think i'm going to paint the hubs in hammerite smoother silver, and don't have a problem with that, like i say i'm just nervous about using the hammerite smooth on the calipes, i'm properly just being paranoid

also if anyones interested i'm in discussions with a high temp decal supplier to see if they'll produce some TTe decals for the calipers. he can supply in a variaty of colous even carbon effect and white carbon effect

I used the foliatec kits available in halfords, Found it really good i did my calipers about a week and a half ago. No problems as of yet. I put decals on aswell you can have a look at my car with the calipers on http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3153804

Nice car!

I like your radio as well. I was asking in another thread about radio/CD etc and somebody advised changing the standard unit for an aftermarket one. How have you fitted your single DIN Alpine into the double din slot? Is that an available adapter that you've used because it looks quite neat?

Also fitting an aftermarket unit do you just lose the car's trip computer and clock functions?

I used hammerite smooth on mine a few years ago and they still look as shiny today. The paint hasn't cracked or peeled. Considering I didn't particularly clean the calipers much before painting I am impressed with the durability.

+1 for Hammerite.

Thanks mate for the comments. I changed my stereo as i just put a subwoofer and amp into my car on saturday and fully completed fixing it all in on tuesday.

The reason for changing the stereo was because it allowed me to use ipod control, along with usb. Later on will be using my alpine through with a bluetooth module for handsfree purposes. My stereo set me back around £200. Its the alpine 9884R (With sound imprint) I wouldnt bother changing if you rely on your trip computer etc as removing the factory unit will get rid of the steering wheel controls and trip computer.

If you want to put a subwoofer or amp i n i would defo recommend it tho. I chose my unit as it illuminates red aswell. Previously had a alpine 9812rb which was probably the best stereo made to date without a doubt!

However more on topic, The fascia can be purchased on the following sites

Will be updating my pics on car domain. Fitted my subwoofer and amp real happy with the install which i did.

Changed the sounds to a JL Audio 10W7 with a jl audio 500/1 amplifier.

Well i need a high res image to send off the the guy of the TTE logo but can't find one, tried taking a digital camera picture of the decals i have applied to the car but don't know if this will be any good.

So does anyone have a high res TTE logo?

failing that i'm going to make a stencil and paint the logo on instead of the high temp decal :(
