Skipped out of work early today so I could go and pick up a BluePrint Clutch kit for the car. The guy behind the counter even commented on the high quality of the products that these guys make.

So I've added them all to the pile on my desk along with the fidanza flywheel.....

then I am just waiting to sort out an order with John for the Clutch Master and Slave Cylinders (there are none of these from BluePrint available in Britain and the guy phoned up the company who deal with the shipment of their parts and they told him none were planned any time soon due to lack of demand :( ) then it is being booked in to have it all replaced :D

my parts man loves blueprint - never any comebacks! never had an issue with any of there parts although i aint used their clutches they come recommended. had to replace the droplinks when i changed the springs, could only get 1 blueprint one and the other was whiteline or something like that - it failed within months! thats why i use their stuff but i needed a link in a hurry.

you'll enjoy that flywheel - good choice.

No mention of where they were manufactured, but the guy I spoke to was in to BluePrint in a big way and said that everything he has had from them has always come from asia on a boat.

Well once everything is fitted I'll report back on it all. The place I went to is near Homebase in Watford if you are familiar with that area and they have a pretty large warehouse, so should have lots of stock too.

Am going to look a bit thick now......

What benefit does this flywheel give over the standard one, i can appreciate changing it when you do the clutch i just wondered what improvement's a Fidanza one will give?

Ah yes, hmmm i am loosing it, thats what lack of sleep does to me (to much driving).

Is this a lightened Flywheel, if so will it reduce torque at low revs, i can remember hearing this, however i could just be making it up!

Brace this weekend, the Wife is off shopping for her mates daughters bridesmaid dress for someones elses wedding, she will be gone for hours.

lighterflywheel means less mass for the engine to turn, resulting in improved response up and down the rev range.

vis ive seen online of a fidanza on a 2zz make it look quite quick, but the revs drop too quickly, i dislike the mistach of 1->2nd gear as it is, i cant imagine trying to make it (on a town drive not whilst ragging it obviusly) from 1st to 2nd gear regularly given the speed of the rev drop.

but im keen to here how you get on.

ALso

have you considered the extended slave pushrod from speed source? im, thinking of getting one when i order the exedy (this weekend) to help with clutch (dis)engagement.

I know a place over in Ireland that does blueprint as well, i wouldn't be that far from Watford when Im in England. After you have had it done will you take note of the amount of hours labour you get charged, then we'll be able to work out rough cost for a clutch change depending on who does the work on are cars and also compare it to the main dealers price for a clutch change. We can just add a half an hour labour for the flywheel swap.

We'll have a good idea if someone on here is getting screwed over when they get a clutch done, that if you mechanic is honest

when the dealer did mine under warranty it tok them 1.5 hrs to do. but, the guide garages use which says how many hours labour thay can charge says 4hrs which is what a dealer will charge.

If I make it to the garage before they close this evening, then I might see if they can give me a solid estimate of how long it will take. I think they work at about £50/hour too.

my local toyotech guy says he will chance a T sport clutch for £150 labour, clutch and transmission who did my primera clutch for 120 are now saying they only fit their own clutches so you cant supply your own:/

4 hours is a joke when they only spend 1.5 hours, how can trade descriptions allow them to get away with it~!

Most fella's are billing for 3 hours so. I was quoted something ridiculous by jemca for a clutch on a t sport when i was looking for mine, car I was looking at was very cheap. Wasn't when you added in the price of a new clutch. Private sale

I'd say the Toyota lads have seen so many t sport clutches they can do them blindfolded mike

Well they finally came back with a book quote of 9.5hours!!! What a joke. I'll be heading elsewhere now to get all of this done.

toyota or a private garage?!

Indie. All they did was go through the book and add up all of the times in there for each of the jobs. They seem to forget that they are all in the same part of the car so you only have to rip things out the once.

OK, so after the 9.5hour quote of the first place which he reckoned would come to almost £600, I went to a place that my parent's use and their quote is half the price. That is to replace the clutch, the flywheel, the clutch master cylinder and the clutch slave cylinder. So it looks like I'll have to go with these guys.

Unfortunately not, I had to suck it up and get Toyota ones :( If your guy can source the blueprint ones then I'd be happy to take them and just stick these ones on eBay or something.

If you keep the reciept Mr T will take them back - if my man can get hold of them they'll be cheaper then the Toyota ones. I'll let you know, if he can get some i will get them put aside for you and we can take it from there..............

I'll hope for some good news then, but the guy I spoke to didn't seem to think there were many (if any) in the UK right now. Thanks for checking though :)

hm well in terms of reasonable labour cost, i got quoted £150 for a clutch install, and paid £35 for a master cylinder install, so £300 all inc for clutch, flywheel, master, slave etc may be worth it.

BUT have you looked into the extended Speed Source Pushrod for the 2zz? im gonna order one with my clutch and get it installed at the same time.
