Can Anybody Beat This?

Hi i finally sorted out my alternator and guess for how much??

I bought a 1 week old (with receipt) alternator from eBay for 56.50 inc P+P. And the mechanic charged me £30 to fit it....

So in total i paid 86.50 for a nearly new alternator and to get it fitted aswell... is that good or what?

If i include the £70 for a new Battery then it all comes to a total of £156.50, has anybody had this done cheaper?

:)

Would you mind writing a 'how to' for us who need to fit one in the future?

Sure no prob

1 jack the car and remove the drivers rear wheel

2The alt. is located at the back of the engine , look for the mounding bolt and loosen it ( its a 12mm )

3 Remove the clamp bolt for the tensioner ( 13mm )

4 Unplug the 3 pin plug and unbolt the main power feed ot the back of the alt. ( make sure the Battery is disconnected frist )

5 Tilt the alt towards the engine and remove the belt .

6 Now remove the mounting bolt and slide the alt off from the mounting bracket ( it will be tight and have to be rocket foward and back to free it )

7 Lift the alt up the back of the engine bay and out of the car , there is very little space here but it will come out .

8 To refit just reverse the procedure .
