Corolla Compressor Ecu.

Can anyone tell me whether the ECU can be reset to BOTH settings? For example, when low octane petrol is put in the CTS Compressor, it automatically defaults to the second "safe" map. This can be reset by holding the accelerator down for 45 seconds.

However, can you select the "safe" map without the car actually defaulting to this?

The reason for this question is that I allowed my missus to drive my car (mistake, but I wasn’t in a fit state to drive it myself!!) and the following day I got in it and it had defaulted to the second map. No low octane petrol was put in there, so it seems a mystery unless it is possible to set it to both maps.

All help appreciated!!!

I don't have a Compressor, although I really fancy one, so I have no personal experience to report, but if, as you say, you can reset the map by holding the accelerator down for 45 seconds, can you not just do that and switch it back to the high octane fuel setting?

I don't think resetting it is the issue here, what he wants to know is how his wife managed to get it into limp home mode in the first place. Generally speaking it is caused when the car thinks something bad is about to happen (i.e. damage to the engine), so it may just have come down to terrible driving of the car which made it think the engine was about to let go.

I'm pleased you said that - not me!

Thanks for all responses so far.

From previous experience, you can tell when the "safe" ECU is being used as it becomes much slower and less responsive. Also, you can feel the lift when accelerating quickly rather than the constant acceleration you normally get with the correct mapping.

Not only do i want to know if this can be done in the same way (I havent tried to change it to the "safe" setting...yet!), but i also want to know how the fu(k she managed to do it!!!
