Changing Head Unit

That'd be the one. Although I'd recommend buying one from a proper site.

They can't even spell in that auction so who's to know if it is actually an Autoleads one? :P

Or! Same price from Halfords and no need to wait for delivery...

Bleeding Halfords don't stock the fascia panel for the Corolla and when you go online it can't be reserved for store pick up only available to order (FP-11-04)

I've been to Halfords this morning and seen the head unit I want but no Fascia Panel available in store.

Came home checked online and I've bought the unit from Car Audio Giants £35 cheaper than Halfords, the fascia panel and ISO adapter from justkenwood about £5 cheaper than Halfords and that's taking into account p&p.

Halfords is OK as long as the stuff's in stock and available in store but if you have to order it you may as well shop around online and get a better deal.

Still waiting for the ISO adaptor and fascia to be delivered but I've got the new head unit. It's only a Kenwood but all I really wanted was the USB port to plug my wife's flash drive into with her music on.

Reading the manual though they don't make it clear how you get it to play from the flash drive. Do you just plug it into the USB port and press play. Are you then able to shuffle and repeat and stuff like that? Next to the USB there's a mini jack (AUX) which I assume is for an MP3 player or similar, and I guess you just select AUX for this to play, but what do you select for the USB device? The manual isn't clear on this.

I am hoping that once all the bits arrive and I install it that I can just experiment but if anybody can shed any light in the meantime I'd be very grateful!

Oh and another thing, on my Corolla T3, the centre dash section has rotary heating and ventilation controls. Are these cable operated or electroically i.e. when I pull this section away from the dash will there be cables that come away from the rear of the rotary controls or is that all old hat now and there will just be some wires? Also do I have to remove the rotary control knobs to remove the section of trim that they are mounted on?

Thanks again.

You need to pull out the centre knob, to find the hidden screws that holds it in place to the dash, undo them, and the centre console should come out as it's shown in my pics

Give us more details of which H/U you got?

Usually it case of attach cable and select AUX on the H/U and it should play whatever you attached to it, be it a flash drive or an ipod

OK lads panic over! All bits arrived all bits installed and I'm really pleased with it, especially for the relatively small outlay!

There is a SRC button and pressing that just toggles through the Tuner, CD, AUX and USB. Memory stick straihght into the USB port and it starts playing - no problem.

Thanks for all the help, much appreciated. Doubt I would've got the centre console out without the pics and advice.

Anyway this is what it looks like!
