Gen7 Brake Problem

Hi,

I have just had to change OSF brake caliper as the old one had seized completly. So I have fitted new pads and bled all of the brakes to make sure there was no air in the system. The problem I have is that when braking you can feel the brake pedal going away from you and gets to the floor and makes a wooshing noise.

When the engine is off, after 4 pumps of the pedal it goes hard.

I have tried the trick of running the engine for 30 seconds, switching off, pumping the brakes til they go hard and whilst my foot is still on the pedal, start the car. When I do this the pedal drops to the floor, which I have read this should do.

I have checked all around and can not find any leaks.

I am really desperate to get to the bottom of this. The MOT is Monday :-(

Many thanks

Does the level of the fluid in the reservoir drop when the pedal goes down?

Probably need someone to watch while you hold the pedal down.

You've either got a leak or air in the system.

Rebleed the whole system again ( start with the wheel furthest from the Master cylinder , then the next, working towards the closest one.)

Good luck

We have tried that and the fluid is not moving. Can not see any air bubbles either.

I have bled the system 4 times now in exactly that way. Started NSR and worked forward.

Could it be a servo problem?

If the fluid isn't moving, I would suspect the master cylinder seals are letting fluid past instead of pushing it out to the calipers..

If that was the case, wouldn't the pedal keep dropping without the servo running? I have heard that Toyota had a recall on the servo's of earlier models.
