Yes, i i wouldn't do that. It could totally ruin the engine.

Diesel has a much lower selfinflame temperature, than petrol. That's why diesel engines don't need any sparkplugs to run.

Putting petrol in a diesel engine wouldn't do any more damage than that the engine wouldn't start. Putting diesel that selfinflames when compressed, in a petrol engine, that's designed to ingnide the petrol with sparkplugs is something i wouldn't want to try unless the engine was on it's way to the junkyard

hello

never use diesel enging oil in petrol one.

the first oil is designed having all additives for use in diesels (especially alkalinity number )---> this alkalinity reacts with sulphur acid formulated from sulphur in diesel and moisture in the air/diesel --- > this alkalinity gets acid neitralized to prevent acid attack to the internal parts such us liners; rings etc.

cheers

Hi,

thanks for your reply but I want to be clear about this. I'm talking about the oil used in an oil change. A mechanic told me that there is no difference between the oil used in a Diesel engine and a petrol engine at oil change. He told me that the diesel engine oil was better than the petrol engine oil. Is there a way I can tell from the oil in the engine what oil was used?

hello again

in case those mechanic will be responsible for the engine problem - then go ahead -- but be sure this is huge violation of the maintenance rules.

i know MrT offers lube oil for both petrol/diesel as the same oil -- but it is better to use it in case of MrT responsibility.

cheers
