I tried posting this in the performance section but haven't got any reply so far, so i'm reposting it here.

I've got a Toyota Avensis from 1999 with the good old 3S-FE engine. Now, the engine is great for what it was supposed to, namely combining low rev. torque with good fuel economy. The peaking power output of 128 hp is also addicuate, but i wouldn't mind having a little extra on the top, which bring sme to my question. Has anyone of you guys had any experience with modifications of this engine, like chip/ecu, airfilter, exhaustion? If yes, how much extra could i expect?

When i bought this car back in 1999 i was also considering the Honda Accord that came around the same time. The Honda had 147 hp vs. the Avensis 128, but better torque caracteristics and the difference in price made me go for the Avensis.

Might be an idea to try or re try Glanza section as you would be amazed what these boys do to cars especially jap imports. Unless people on here who use diesel power chips have purchased units from companies that supply petrol tuning parts.

Thanks i will. Really not asking for much. This engine has a good overall tourque, but if i could get something between 140-150 bhp out of it, without loosing too much on the low rev end, i would be happy.
