Twin Exhaust/ Towbar

For some time i have been contemplating twin exhausts on my XT4 D4D, At a time when i really shouldn't be spending money the MrT one at £800+ with rear skirt is way out of my league,(sorry Kingo) I have seen a Cobra one + a Remus one at £400+£500 respectively, I have found a very reputable S/S exhaust manufacturer who for £480 will make me a full system, from catalyst back, Why do we need a catalytic converter on a diesel? Anyway if i go this route, and it won't be for some time yet i can have, Round..Round slashed(at an angle)... oval...or even square pipes.. i would welcome anyones opinion. Lastly i may at some point in the future wish to fit a tow bar. Both the Mr T + Remus versions say cannot be fitted with Towbar, does anyone know why? I f i do have one made does anyone have an idea how the towbar fits, so that we can avoid its mounting points, The company who can make the twin exhaust, can do just the twin pipes the same as the MrT one for £250 plus vat, with your choice of tail pipes, I cannot reccomend them as i have not used them yet but they look very professional and were working on some very exspensive motors when i called, hopefully this is a link to their website..

Stew, style-wise, I personally like the slightly flattened round end-pipes (which you could say is oval :D - but not as oval as oval, of you get my drift).

If you got 'over-styled' ones, like square ones and they were slightly misaligned it could look drunk and be annoying

Interesting about the the towbar - the exhaust twin-pipe I bought is made by Remus for Toyota and IS Towbar compatible - and I have a towbar fitted to prove it ;) - so I guess there must be something specific on the RAV4.3 that stops it :g:

Here are some fitting instructions and from what I can see, they all use the same mounts on the Car, which I would guess are the proper ones, so hopefully this will help answer the question

ha well...here goes....

I have a large bore straight thru exhaust and no cat fitted; the beast has an original T towbar fitted from brand new in 1994. And we're close to also fitting a rear sway bar as well. This will mean getting the rear section of the stainless exhaust re-done to make way for the sway bar mountings etc. If its custom made, then I found its cheaper, better, and can be bent round anything if the guys know what they are doing. Am thinking of swapping the petrol tank to a race type mounted inside which will get rid of the slowing rotting Toyota tank mounted a-straddle the prop shaft and exhaust....then I can get the exhaust a bit higher off the ground.

However, the version 2 is slowly moving forward so will wait to see how that is with the sway bar fitted.

Thanks for replies Hoovie+Bothy, Hoovie if you use the link. http://www.jpexhausts.co.uk/Site/Gallery.htm and click on services at top of page then scroll down, it will show you some tailpipe profiles, what do you think? Think that link may not have worked this time

L_H I would imagine the silencer would be too low if a towbar was in place, I cant think of any other logical explaination. The price of the Toyota one, including skirt is just, well................daft  I bet you can count on one hand how many of those Toyota have sold this year

I can send you the Toyota towbar fitting instructions if it helps with your custom made people (might help seeing where it fits?)

Kingo

I quite like the one 2nd from top on the left (doesn't apply to the RAV4 really, but I have a thing about cars like 1.2 corsas and fiestas with stupidly large big tailpipes    - Subtlety is more more impressive IMO)

I reckon having a setup custom made is definately the way to go, considering the prices that Mr T / Remus are quoting (I was VERY lucky with my one from eBay at getting effectively 75% off!). You'll be able to get a nice smooth pipe where it is visible as well, unlike the official 4.3 ones, which are quite disappointing in that respect - it could be worth taking a pic of the official set to the maker and tell him what bit of that you DON'T want as well!

Looking at their Gallery, I can't imagine they will have any problems making just about any configuration!

Decorating the hall? DECORATING THE HALL! Don't talk to me about decorating the hall.

I started decorating the hall a while ago and Mrs H asked if it would be finished in time for her Birthday (April - and she did mean this year )

Just spent all weekend painting all the doors on the hallway and landing, with all new handles to boot as a surprise for her - when I could have been out pimping my RAV :crybaby:

Still not fully finished and she's home in about 4 hours :fear: (new door handle spindles slightly too thick for old locks :ffs: , old spindles too long for new handles :ffs: why is life never easy :( )
