http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=218015

Go to your local Maplin store, quote code N91CX

They also do these in green, 'white yellow' red and purple.

If the person behind the counter can't find them in other colours - ALL stores do stock them! But the other colours aren't online nor in the catalogue (I know, I work at Walsall branch)

Get them to run a system search for led strip - they'll come up.

It's £1.29 per 5cm so they're quite dear. Just stick em with a bit of double sided tape to the footwells, wire em up to your side lights and they'll come on with them.

Runs on 12V so you won't need dropper resistors. And if they mention "12V your car runs on up to 14.4V so you'll need dropper resistors" Ive tested them up to 14.4 and they still work! So don't let them sell you 15p resistors!

Don't worry too much about blowing fuses. A whole reel (that's 50M) didn't even use half an amp... So if you do blow a fuse for the sidelights, check your wiring.

Hope that's a help mate

Hey - sorry, I'm hijacking this thread a bit....

I'm also wanting to put some lights in the footwell of my Mk2 Yaris, but haven't found a guide yet. Is yours a Mk2?? if so I'm interested if you find a simple guide too :D

Easiest way is with a multimeter. I know it can be done because I put LEDs in my centre ventilation thingys and wired it to the back of the heater controls.

You'll need 2 people for this probably. Using a meter and with the side lights off, connect the test leads to 2 of the wires on the back of one of the specific Toyota plugs linking to the back of the heater / security light / speedo. Turn the sidelights on. If the meter reads 12V, it's those 2 wires (and where the red one is will be positive, black is negative)

If it's -12V you've still found the right connectors, the wires are just the wrong way round. Obviously LEDs only allow current to pass one way so getting this right is vital. Using snaplocks or other preferred method, connect the strip of LEDs up to these cables.

When you turn your side lights on the strip lights should come on.

Took me about 2 mins to find the right wires, I just can't remember which ones they were and don't wanna pull my car apart again just to find out
