Warning Light?

i have a light on on my dashboard, but my manual is in japanese so i was wondering if anybody knew what it meant... its and orange car shaped light with lines at the rear end. i initially thought that this meant one of my rear lights was out, but i checked it over and as far as i can see they are all working fine. anybody got any ideas why this light is on?

Hi,

I have the same problem with my celica. I've been told its the EMS light (Engine Management System). Apparemtly, it needs resetting?!?. I haven't had mine rectified yet and want some more opinions before going to a garage and face getting ripped off!.

If you've got yours fixed please reply and share your wisdom!.

My advice.....if any dash lights come on, and you have no idea what they are...pull over and call someone ......if you continue driving you could be doing more damage.

the said light is a rear bulb out , either stop,brake ,reverse or indicator, a poor connection to any of these lights can make for a poor earth , the bulb may still work ok , but its enough to make the dash light come on.

I have the same light on, on my dash board currently! I found that one of my rear brakelights was out a fair few weeks ago and had to replace a bulb. It was fine once the brake light was working again. The dashboard light didn't light up for a while, but periodically over the past couple of weeks it has been on and then off and then on again( light in dashboard) Not had a chance to check out whether the brake light is responding accordingly yet, however, I am certain that the light on the dashboard corresponds to brake lights or rear bulbs. Hope that helps?? I'm wondering if I have a bit of a dodgy connection going on..... Let me know if you have any success with your enquiries!

The engine Managament Light is the shape of an ENGINE and lights up in Orange in UK cars. If that comes on, get the car to a Garage ASAP as they need to do a diagnostics check on it.
