Are you sure it's not a bladder problem?

Physician heal thyself? :>)

Sorry, I'll get my coat.......

here's your coat. LOL

But seriously, mr t claims it needs the modified door seal .... Surprising since it's 5 weeks old!

I guess the factory are still using up the old leaky ones.

Bah!!!

I'm very skeptical about this talk of modified seals and the like, the number of different tails I've seen posted here that people have been told about the door seals by dealers makes me think quite a lot of BS is said by them on this subject. When I got my Aygo a few months ago I was told by the dealer that the seal issue had been fixed by switching to using the Peugeot seals, but I doubt very much if the 107/C1/Aygo have ever used different seals as surely any manufacturing change would be applied to all three.

As I said a little while ago my Aygo as developed a very slight occasional leak via the top of the passenger door, when it's dry you can open the door and see a tide mark of dirt the whole length of the seal where water has wicked through. Every time I get in the car (from the drivers side) after rain I run my fingers along the inside top of the passenger door and 50% of the time there will be drips of water.

I saw the new style seals, there is a different top bit to the ones fitted to mine.

I guess they just assume most folk live in dry climates and those that don't will complain and get the new seals.

service manager tells me some cars come with them, some without....no rhyme or reason and toyota won't reimburse changing them unles customer notes water ingress.

personally I don't mind as long as it gets fixed, the !Removed! car hasn't done 800 miles yet!

suppose it lets me test out their customer service....if good, then fine, if not....I'm not one to let it lie ;)

of course , seal is on back order so will be next tues before its done and they want the car for 3 days to thouroughly dry it out and check its fixed...bodes well as does the free courtesy car (of course)

As ever with cars, the term 'new' is relative - to how long ago it was made and how long it has been stored somewhere, which could be a field I guess!

With the Aygo, given its current popularity, I would have thought that chances are they don't hang around long outside in storage. as to why door seals might be different I suppose that, given the routes the cars take, there will be times when old and new changes catch up with each other so you could easily see two new cars arriving at a dealer with a slightly different configuration under the bonnet so to speak.

Anyway, it's good to hear that your leak has gone away

Hi

Do a search on my previous posts re leaking Aygo and door seal mods.

My seals were replaced again at the end of August after many attempts to solve the problem. I don't think there are 'new' seals just an extra strip across the top of the door, mine still leaked after that was fitted. So far this time its stayed dry...........but I won't hold my breath, I've beeen going to and fro for 12 months now, its become habit to get in the car and ask my daughter to check the passenger footwell!

My car is getting its next service in about a month and they're replacing some of the seals on mine too.

Car is from Sept. 2006 and the seal if "buckling" inward where the A-pillar goes over into the roof...

Very anoying as with heavy rain I get a drop every 10 seconds or so and when the car was parked in the rain and

I open up the door water has collected between the buckled piece of seal and the body and splashes down onto the seat :o

Same as my (leaking) one

seriously deep pools of water in the footwell today after it pi55ed down last night

Oh well, at least toyota are covering the courtesy car AND insurance for next week!

I find its not what goes wrong but how its dealt with that is the mark of dealer quality.....lets see how it goes because if I'm buggered about, I'll be squealing all over the forum like a stuck pig!! :D

My 06 plate hasn't leaked and I have had my seals on and off multiple times whilst installing audio etc...

seals are the same as mine but I've never experienced a a flood of water inside, but then I do live on the South Coast where of course it never rains!

Toyota don't seem to be taking the leaking door seals issue seriously............ :(

Touch Wood, Mine is still OK.

Lives out side 24/7 Boot still dry, Passenger side still dry, Drivers side still dry. I do check it once a week just in case :g:

Call from Mr T today (or rather I called them because I hadn't heard  ) delivery of new seals put back to 23rd, yet more waiting and water ingress....will be pushing for new carpet too at this rate!

come on Toyota......its not as if you don't know about the problem

I'd just had a nice day cycling around the Peak District got back into the car and grabbed the road atlas that I keep in the rear passenger foot well, can you guess..... it was soaking wet along with the carpet. I'll be phoning the dealer on Monday, I'm rather p**sed off about this given I really quizzed the sales manager about leaks when I bought the car and he assured me that the problems no longer occurred on new cars. At the moment I think this Aygo will be my first and last Toyota

My cars going in to be looked at tomorrow, the footwell is still wet and it's raining so hopefully there will be something for them to find.

btw the seals on my car have little breather holes into the tube section of the seal every 5cm or so, surely this collects water and funnels it around to where the two ends of the seal meet?

Update: Dropped the car off at the arranged time of 8am but had to wait half an hour until the service manager turned up to work in the courtesy car, then once I'd left the garage I noticed the fuel garage flashing very urgently at me so had to put some fuel in (once I'd found how to open the fuel cap on a Yaris), I was late for work, not happy

Well I collected my Aygo from the garage and they've replaced the passenger side door seal so lets see how that goes. One thing that does concern me about the repair is the new seal has been fitted with the join at the top of the door, I hope the join being in that position doesn't give water a chance to get by. Apart from that the car has been washed, the inside hoovered and the tyres blacked.

The new seal does seems a little more firm and less flat than the old one (and the one still on the drivers side) so I hope this is the end of the issue.

btw the car I had for the day was a Yaris T2 and I really didn't like the interior or dash.

Mine goes in today, sodden carpets so will need these renewed also....

I'll reserve judgement on Mr T (shields Toyota) till I see how good a job they do/how I'm dealt with

if good, I'll be the first to sing their praises if not....well....watch this space

So Far So Good, They have agreed to fix seals, replace all the carpet and replace all the carpet mats, Toyota GB are covering a hire car (fiesta zetec) and insurance until the car is completely fixed (might be 2 weeks as carpet set is on back order .....guess there is a shortage as everyone needs one!!!) but hey-ho, it shouldn't happen but the dealer and Toyota GB seem to have a handle on things......watch this space

Can you put up a picture of the new door seals, curious to see the difference between new and old

many thanks

I'm not sure a photo would show much, the design looks the same but there seems to be a slight difference in the quality of the rubber used to make the seal, it's a slightly darker colour and seems to hold it shape better. It might just be normal variations in manufacturing rather than a new special seal, maybe they have quality control issues with the supplier?
