Heater Circuit Fuse

Hi

I have recently had many problems with my Avensis 1.8 vvti. My engine stopped functioning correctly and was burning the engine oil excessively. I was getting a huge amount of white/blue smoke coming out of the exhaust and then eventually the bonet. I was told the engine needing replacing. I got this done.

The new (used, from a salvage yard) egnine was fitted in. Within a week to my suprise it was pinging (making a knocking sound at the top end of the engine). There was also no power in the car. The engine fault codes stated something about IAT and MAF failures.

I took it back to the mechanic who put in my engine. I was told the cataylic convertor and exhaust manfiold needed to be replaced. I have no idea what made the pinging sound stop. This time however there are engine fault codes (p0135 and p0155). The mechanic told me I would have to get the lambda sensors replaced.

As I have spent a lot on the car already I believe there must be some other alternative than keep replacing parts. Surely the mechanics are taking the easy option by trying to replace parts without properly finding the fault. I've read on websites that the heater circuit fuse could have blown and led to the two new fault codes (p0135 and p0155) and I should check for this fuse first before replacing the sensors.

Where can i find this fuse?

Is it possible the mechanic fitted the sensors incorrectly or damaged them accidentally while working on the engine?

Can anyone on the forum advise on how best to go ahead from here.

Thanks. :)

You do not say year of car, but you could try behind glove box & behind O/S lower dash, has pull off trim with chart of fuses on the back. Your mechanic is not throwing parts at your car, both error codes point towards heated oxygen sensors at fault & he could only have known that by using OBD11 tool.

You could suggest to him just to clear faults & drive vehicle back in a weeks time & see if same error codes show up again.
